When I graduated from college I realized that I needed to make a change in my health as well as my lifestyleand began working out. I saw the movie 300 and was extremely impressed with the physique of the actors of the film so I researched for their workout regimen. At that moment that is when I learned that Crossfit Training was the answer. I immediately looked for a CrossFit-type gym and came across Forged Fitness, formally known as CrossfitNC. On my first day of training, I completed a 10 minute workout which consisted of Pushups, Sit ups, Air Squats, and Box Steps. When I completed the workout I was exhausted so sore that I could barely lift my arms to wave goodbye when I left. When I got home I realized that this is exactly what I needed and went back the next day for more training.
When I started at Forged Fitness I weighed about 210 pounds, wore XXL shirts and had a 36” waist. I can honestly say that I was in terrible shape at the time. I wasn’t able to a single pull-up without a resistance band, perform a burpee, nor run a complete quarter mile lap without stopping every 15 steps. The coaches as well as many of the gym members continued to push me and give outstanding support every single day I was there, which really helped me stay determined. For example, sometimes when I would struggle during a workout a friend would come over and continue to work out with me even if they were already finished. That act of kindness really motivated me and kept me working harder. About 6 months down the road I noticed that I was beginning to lose weight, finish workouts faster, and was getting stronger. Within one year I dropped down to 155 pounds with 8 % body fat. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe being that I slimmed down from XXL shirts and a 36” waist to medium shirts and a 30” waist. Not only did I lose weight, I became stronger. I was able to do dead hang pull-ups and deadlift over twice my body weight.
None of this was possible without the love and support of my “Forged Family”. I can honestly say that joining Forged Fitness has changed my life for the better. I cannot say “Thank You” enough for helping me through the struggle and helping me to transform into a better person.
